We started the this entire super conference talk 20 years ago. Frank Broyles (Our AD and legendary coach) mentioned to the SEC heads, on the golf course, if they ever wanted to expand Arkansas would join. This would be 1988'ish.
While pro sports were eating up the smaller schools fan bases of the SWC.. (SMU - Dallas Cowboys, Mavs) (Houston -Oilers Astros) (TCU - Cowboys - Rangers - Mavs) etc...
Frank was brilliant and initiated the move and the rest is what you are seeing today 20 years later.

The officiating in the SWC is what broke the camel's back as the Longhorn Network was what drove TAMU away today.
Back then not a single Ref from Arkansas could officiate the Texas vs Arkansas yearly game.
You can tell Texas was pissed Arkansas left.

You are arkie fans are so funny. Frank didn't start the superconference trend. Penn State joined the big ten in 1990 and arkie and sc joined in 1991. Roy Kramer and Jim Delany started it.
Plus Frank never learned how to pronounce athlete. He pronounced it ath-a-lete.

Well we did start this along with South Carolina. At the time A&M and Texas was to go SEC as well but Baylor got in the way. Baylor had a lot more political clout back then. Now they only have Kenneth Starr.

Y'all (non-arky) fans do realize that "superconferences" are what we have today by 20 years ago standards. The Arkansas guys are nOT talking about today's expansions but stuff back then. Back in the early 90's when the first expansion took place, there was talk about superconferences and Arkansas may very well have initiated that via broyles.
