Been thinking about moving the family home to lakefront property, but am apprehensive because of several factors:

a) House was built in 1859
b) House is two stories - roof is about 30' up
c) Chimneys have been removed from the center of the house, and seem to have weakened where they supported.

Does anyone have any clue to the process and the cost involved in moving something like this about 15 miles?

what are the roads like? i would think it would be expensive as hell, especially given it's a 2 story

eta: process, they'd probably have to split the house length-wise and height-wise

it can definetly be done, as I know where a two story victorian-style home was successfully moved near alexandria...no idea how they did it or what it cost, though.....

I'm betting house moving companys are hurting right now and you could get a hell of a deal...
