Why does that suck? Win the game, go on to the Championship. Why should the loser go to the championship game, because their self-esteem might suffer?

To me, that's exactly what's so fricking beautiful about the SEC. I don't see how it "sucks" in the least.
What other conference's teams get to play what are essentially National Championship games on their campuses every year?
