Obviously when this hypothetical is brought up, it simply means taking the team/program as it currently exists and having them play an SEC schedule. You're bringing up a bunch of other variables that don't factor into the discussion most people are having and trying to start a totally different discussion. In your scenario, you wouldn't be in bed with Nike and your football program might resemble Kentucky or Vanderbilt instead of LSU, Bama, or Florida.

not my scenario.
and we're not "in bed with Nike". Phil Knight is an alum and a booster. Why would he not sponsor our program? We don't take Nike U as an insult, we're proud to say he's an Oregon alum. The "nike whore" comments are so stupid.
Knight has also given a nice chunk of Nike stock to the University of Oregon so that they will continue to receive funding long into their future. Great alum who loves his school.
