Cataloging the Tiger drops

1) Chase Clement - 3:00 1st Qtr
2nd and 7 from the LSU 32, would have been a 23 yard pass from the LSU 32 to the UO 45. Perfect throw by Lee.
2) Kadron Boone - 1:17 1st Qtr
2nd and 12 - LSU 39
Would have been a 31 yard pass down to the UO 30. Was thrown off the back foot to the back shoulder (while being hit) but Boone dropped it. Should have been a catch, bottom line. Commentators erroneously stated Gildon made a play on the ball.
3) ODB Jr, 0:17 1st Qtr
1st and 10, LSU 30
Would have been a 30 yard pass down to the UO 40. Deep slant into the middle of the field, ODB got 2 hands on it but couldn't bring it in. Again, commentators erroneously stated Gildon made a play on the ball.
So far LSU receivers have left 83 yards of receiving off the stat sheet and the 1st qtr isn't over yet.
3) Chase Clement, 13:44 2nd Qtr
2nd and 10, LSU 45
Would have been a 5 yard pass to the 50. Pass was not good by any stretch of the imagination, but when your receiver gets 2 hands on the football it should be a catch, period.
4) Michael Ford, 12:55 3rd Qtr
2nd and 10, LSU 46
Screen pass, pass was led just a bit. I count this as a drop as I'm really not confident in Ford's situational awareness. Could have been a big gain, a loss, or a gain of a few yards. Yardage totals won't be counted for this one.
5) ODB, Jr, 14:12 4th Qtr
3rd and 8, LSU 15
Deep post into the end zone. ODB was hit before the ball got there but in the end had 2 hands on the ball and it should have been caught. This would have been a 15 yard TD.
6) Not a drop, but the long completion that was called back to ODB was a 35 yarder.
I'd say 16/23 for 236 and 2TD/0INT is a much better stat line. Wouldn't you?

fricking excellent post

He also could have thrown the short slant better, very inaccurate all night on that throw. I'll take what he did though, he'll get better each week and so will rest of our offense.

They were tough catches and we will need them to make some of those tough catches in the future.
Posted on 9/4/11 at 5:30 pm to Frankie Knuckles
with more snaps with the 1's, lee will get better.
coaches got to figure out who can catch, and who can't.
clement has stone hands
peterson19 has good hands
landry will catch anything thrown his way

I'll say the same (sane) thing in this thread as the other one like this.
You're kidding right? Darron Thomas would have done a lot better too if his receivers didn't drop the ball. Funny thing about that though, they did and so it doesn't count.
Lee didn't do nearly as bad nor nearly as good as some are saying. He seemed to get better as the game went on, so that's good, but he still has tons of room for improvement.

Thanks for taking the time to do this. Drops are a part of the game, but it got absolutely ridiculous last night.

There should have been, because this whole line of thinking is beyond fricking retarded...

fact is, badly thrown, or inaccurate...
when the ball hits a WR in the hands, he HAS to catch it.
very frustrating night for a QB when the ball is there and the WR can't hang onto it.

10 / 22 for 98 yrds w/ a TD.. nothing follows..

Receivers drop passes in football. But I agree, we missed big opportunities that could turn a mild beating into a old country arse whoopin.

No, I'm not kidding.
Am I adding these totals to his stats in my personal book? No. Am I saying that Lee played much better than the stats indicated, and better than you and some others seem to think? Yes.

Thanks for bringing intelligent analysis to the thread. It took me a while to come up with the actual times and down and distance of the drops, along with yardage totals. Why can't you come up with a logical refutation? Oh yeah... that's because you are a fricking cock.

Correction to_-->
when the ball is 3ft in any directional proximity to the receiver said receiver should catch the effing ball. that is if you want to play in the SEC

it doesn't come off as an excuse thread to me
there were some BLATANTLY dropped passes in this game that could have meant the difference in LSU beating oregon by 28+ and 13.

Did we do this for JJ last season?
I mean hell, lets take away penalties. Lets take away drops.
I like Lee, he is the starter. But come on, he played like he has played for 4 years, and like he will play for the next 12 games. That is who he is.
More snaps with the 1's? Really, he has been with the 1's for 4 years.
If he does not have a better half against NW, I would put Mett in just to see what is up...in case we need him against MSU.
