I just want to win, but some of this blind optimism for Lee is stunning. Lee definitely hasn't done anything over the last three years to feel more confident about our QB position.
If you have blind optimism for the other guy, you aren't paying attention either. I don't think Lee would be much worse than the guy who played last year. I am hoping somehow Mettenberger shines and gets a foothold on the spot.

I actually see this working out well for Mett. I was always frustrated that JJ could never seem to pull away from even the weakest of teams, thereby giving Lee very little PT.
I think Lee gets the O down the field quickly, resulting in Mett getting a good share of snaps.

I am not very confident that either guy could be a consistent passing QB. I just feel more confident that if shite goes wrong JJ can get some yards with his feet. It sucks to have to pick between the two based off their past performances.
I hope to see Mett as he was successful in Juco and I have no reason to think he won't be able to transition.
Lee might turn out to be awesome this year, but I don't see how you can look back over his college career and just expect that.
