Guys, tiered of building non rot shooting houses and getting 5-6 years out of them. I am looking to make the step up to non wood shooting houses.
Anyone have any experience with them/a kind they like?

If you're only getting 5-6 years out of a box stand you aren't building it properly to start with......even untreated wood should last longer than that (no ground contact, sheath and frame it so water drains etc) IMHO
That being said we built a box stand out of treated framing (treated was actually cheaper than non treated) and untreated plywood that we primed and painted and I expect it to still be there for my friends 7 yr old to hunt when he's a grown man
We also Got a Shadow Hunter 4x6 box and I like the looks of it......not made of "non rot" materials as it's wood framed with vinyl covering but Id be surprised if it doesn't last a long time
Looked at all the fiberglass and plastic houses out there and just don't have the need for one yet

Dillon stands are expensive but should be around forever if you take care of it.

We bought 3 insulated fiberglass stands last year. One 4x6, one 4x4 and one "Super Six." The larger stands are great for 1 or 2 people. We love them! They are fully carpented inside, plenty of windows, and a full length shelf for ammo, etc. We bought them through a local dealer. They are built by Superior Fiberglass out of TX. The dealer we used lives in Holden. They have a lot of sizes and you can put them on 5, 10 , or 15 foot platforms. I highly recommend them, especially in January!

Thanks slinger, that is the kind of thing I am looking for. Only downside I see is it looks like it would be a challenge to build a tower for them. looks like you would almost have to buy theirs, they look expensive. I e-mailed them for prices, any idea what ya'll paid for yours?

I don't remember what we paid to be honest, I don't want to tell you a number and it be wrong. I didnt make the purchase, but I have hunted all 3 we bought and they are first class. I know we contacted the dealer in Feb/March and talked him down a little bit being that he had some leftover stock once the season was over.
ETA: the tower setup is nice, you can get them at 3 different heights, with our without a "porch" at the door. All of ours are on 10' towers and I wouldn't want to be any higher. It may not be too hard to build one yourself if you know someone handy with angle iron. We bought our towers with the stands, basically just lined all the holes up and bolted it together.

This, we've got 15 year old box stands that I can't see us replacing for at least another 10 years.
