In all seriousness, LSU’s tailgating isn’t created, it’s with us since birth. Arriving before sunrise for an 8 pm game. What sets LSU apart isn’t the traditions like the 12th man or the grove, it is an understanding that LSU football is like Mardi Gras with a football game at the end instead of a parade.
We believe in the saying “Laissez les bons temps rouler” (let the good times roll) and it just doesn’t apply to LSU football. Look how many festivals Louisiana have. Ever seen a jazz funeral? Ever seen a 2nd line at a wedding? It’s just what we do….we like to party, have fun and enjoy the company of our friends and loved ones.
This bond that we have brings us together as the sun sets in western sky and the stadium becomes a big gumbo pot. From uptown New Orleans, to the suburbs of Baton Rouge, to the farms in North La and the Swamps in South La, it doesn’t matter, we’re all tiger fans and for those 3.5 hours, we are family. You can’t instill the love for your team and tailgating in others, you can’t copy it…you either have it, or you don’t.
Good luck and enjoy LSU.
