miles is simply on the wrong side of a phenomenon ive coined coaching perception. everytime nick saban loses a game, its "cant win em all." when miles loses, its b/c hes an idiot and doesnt know what hes doing. miles' haters would run him out of town if he went into the season as a unanimous preseason #1, only to lose 3 games and a 24 point lead against his rival, at home. its never nick sabans fault. ever. everyone still thinks mike stoops is going to turn arizona around. who cares its his 8th year there. youd never know it they way people talk about him. heres a tidbit- hes lost more games than hes won there. but people still believe hes a smart guy and a good football mind, despite the facts. butch davis is another guy whos always been bullet proof in reputation, despite only having 1 double digit win season in his college (and pro) career. miles is just too far down the bad road to make it back

Brilliant. Thanks for the analysis. Especially in reference to Saban's yeah last year. I will admit I'm still smarting from the Tiger's loss to Tennessee with the huge halftime lead some years ago. It remained as a bit of a stain to me on Miles for not making adjustments in the second half as Tennessee made great adjustments. But with Saban, no stain sticks. Strange perception.

Some of the reason for that is, people believe Saban will correct the miscues and they will not happen over and over. That doesn't seem to be the case with Miles. The same problems fans gripe about game after game never seem to get fixed.
