How do tiger fans feel about players openly talking National Championship?

JJ and Ryan Baker specifically, have both been very blatant about this years goals. Neither have showed too much humility. I just feel like it's a bit different than the way LSU teams have acted in the past. I'd say their first goal should be a friggin' SEC championship or how about even a western division title? I do think it is just a sign of the times, and i think it's great that we are fortunate to set such lofty goals. I was just wondering what everyone else thought?

I like it. No team is going to win the championship unless they set it as a goal. Gives them something to work harder and play harder for

No problem with it at all. Obviously to get the the NC you have to win the west and the league. I want the team's goals to be stratosperic.

These days, winning the SEC W is the same as the SEC and usually the NC. I don't have a problem with it.

Lofty goals place pressure on the individual to perform on a daily basis...at practice, in the weightroom, in the classroom, everywhere.

If JJ says it he's stupid and cocky and needs to shutup. If anyone else says it... CHAMPIONSHIP!!

It's nice to see a little swagger back in our team. It seems like we haven't had that much to hold our heads up about since '07 until the end of last year (i.e. scraping together 8 wins on '08, many near-misses in '09). If the they can back up the talk on the field, I have no problem with it.

Isn't that what they play for every year? Why the frick wouldn't they be talking about it?

Not a fan.

It's not that I really care about them talking publicly about it, but focusing on what is truly a far off goal.

In my experience, when people focusing on the big end all, be all goal, the tend to lose focus on the little things that are necessary to make the larger goal a possibility.

I'm fine with it as long as they can back it up.

every good team should have this as a concrete goal. you should never ever expect to lose.

National Championship is LSU's goal every year, and is openly stated within the team.

Ive learned to not listen to anything JJ says.
Rbaker on the other hand hasnt had a whwole lot to say since he has been here.

Id rather think and talk like saban and focus on the process rather than the result.

They can talk about championships all day long but they need to focus on execution and getting prepared for games. I don't have a problem with the chatter though.

Isn't the "goal" for a team as talented as LSU always to win a NC?

No.... I love it. I got a chance to go to summer practice before the 2003 season, and Micheal Clayton was screaming it when other players were getting tired.

One game at a time. This team has not accomplished jack shite yet. All the preseason hype goes right out the door in Game One. Oregon, WV and the SEC teams are not rolling over for LSU. We better be ready or the cockiness will get shoved right back in our face.

I'm excited about the season. If these two players, JJ particularly, are that confident, great. They get a chance to show us on September 3rd. Hope I'm home and in front of the television instead of scrambling to get back from Fort Dix.
