I played against both in high school.. and I have to say Ace was better. But, saying Mauti isn't athletic enough to play in the SEC isn't exactly true. Absolute non-stop motor and tore up the US Army All-American game. He has definitely developed more than Foyil at this stage in his career, other than constant injuries.

Mike was in 9th grade when Ace was a senior, not a very good comparison

1. Mauti could have easily played in the SEC. Urban recruited him hard. but he didnt like how Urban recruited him

2. grew up down the street and played sports with him when we were younger and actually talked to him today but he told me at one point that if LSU would have offered early/earlier he would have strongly considered it but thought he would have signed with Penn St.

I dont think we could have taken him away from penn st but we offered prater instead (great move)

comparing mike to ace is stupid. Ace is one of the nicest guys in the word but mauti was/is a better linebacker. Ace was a beast but mauti is stronger, faster, and football instincts were on par

When I saw this thread (again for the 10th time), I swear i was going to post "In before Lester Earl spats out Ace Foyil nonsense". Give it up. Mauti was a beast, Ace was good but not on the same level. I even worked with Ace, went to school with him, watched a lot of his games, and I still repeat to you that you are clueless Lester. Did Mauti beat your son up or something? Tulane contributer/LSU special teams vs possible all Big 10 at linebacker U. He'll, he matched Ace's contribution as a freshman. Come on man

Man Lester I forgot how much you make me laugh, the fact the you have Sabin who didn't even start full time as a senior ahead of Mauti is golden. Just wanted to say that for all you who say he wouldn't be able to play in the SEC try this one on for size. After Mandeville beat STM the STM head coach singled out Michael and told him he was the best defensive player hes ever coached against. Keep in mind this is the same coach that went up against JacobC and many other former LSU starters. And yes Lester, Ace was a beast and could/should have at least gotten a shot at starting at LSU, he wasn't remotely as good as Mike

Yeah, to say that someone that's in between the two of them in age and played for a rival district school played against them both.. that's pretty far fetched

Can we stop it with this thread every Fall? His Dad and brother played there.LSU slow-played him early and JoePa didn't. He loves PSU and good for Mike.I wish him all the best.

Nice way to turn that around...I never compared him to those guys...YOU >pigeon-holed him as a plodding; "typical/stereotyping" Big 10 LBer..not SEC material...and I simply disagreed!
