I have had great luck with the wildgame innovations cameras (note these are different than the wildview which have a similar shape.)

I have 2 of the 2 mega pixil flash versions, S2 I believe, and 5 of the IR4 versions. The IR versions seem to work very well just dont make the mistake of covering the IR eye like I did. I really like the combos they sold for a while at Gander mountain that came with 2 2GB SD cards the IR4 camera and an external battery back. My batteries last upwards of 6 months depending on how I set the camera. I have built a couple of external battery packs for the others and can post pics/instructions if you want them. I found the 4 D cell batteries wold die in about 1 month with the flash version and 2 months with the IR version. I would like them to have an option for a shorter delay time though and a slightly faster trigger speed would be nice. For the price though the performance has been great and they get the job done. I like the video capture on the IR4 also but it is balck and white only. I "secure" my cams to the tree with a strap of perforated metal duct strapping and a small padlock from walmart. It wont stop someone from destroying the cam or even stealing it if they really want to but it does keep the otherwise well intentioned person from letting their curiosity get the best of them. I also camo painted the black casings fairly cheaply and I would not spend extra to buy the camo ones.

As far as spooking game, I think it is more of a sound issue. I like to position my cams about 6-7 feet high and angled slightly down so the flash is more like lightning and in my mind less frieghtening to the deer. I can however still hear a small click when the pic is taken up to about 12 ft away.

If you really want a good review of cams go to chasingame.com there is a tone of good info there and he tests all brands very well.

Good luck.
