LSU vs Bama for LC and DB's

Landon Collins, you are a safety. Your home state school LSU has had a total of 6 DB's drafted since 2006. Two 1st rounders, two 3rd rounders, a 4th rounder and a 7th rounder. In that group were the 1st DB's drafted in both 2011 and 2007. Four of the group were safties like you.
The evil empire (alleged DB U) with Lord Saban has had 7 DB's drafted since 2006. One 1st rounder, two 2nd rounders, one 3rd rounder, a 5th rounder and two 7th rounders. None were the 1st DB picked in the draft.
LSU's DB's averaged being picked earlier in the draft than Alabama's DB's (3rd vs. 4th round average). If you are a DB (especially safety) and want to go to the NFL, there is no better school than LSU.
Stay home young man. No need to leave your home state. Everything you need is right at home.

Personally I hope like hell that Collins doesn't read this board.

Wow this board just gets worse

LC go to Bama. I kid, I kid.
FWIW someone that posts on Gator boards talked to Landon's father, and all he talked about was LSU. Hmmm...
This kid is really good guys, but come on. If you lost him, would it really be the end of the world? Some are already acting like he's Patrick Johnson (ISWIDT).

Nah, not the end of the world, but it would be a big deal. I think LC has 1st round potential, and he lives like 30 minutes from campus. So it would be a major kick in the nuts, but LSU would march on.
Good thing it's not gonna happen

Thanks, but can I get those 20 seconds back it took me to read that?

It took you 20 seconds to write that. This board is a special place. Who knew. An LSU fan promoting LSU to a potential recruit on an LSU recruiting site. And a bunch of a-holes making that a negative.

Sounds desperate.
You don't think he knows that already? FFS, I'm sure LSU is pounding it in his head enough. He knows Bama doesn't offer more than LSU at this point...it isn't some big secret. They're equal as football programs right now, neither gives him a advantage at coaching over the other and Louisiana is his home school. Home will be what makes him sign with LSU...as it generally is the case with major recruits and LC himself has stated home factors matter to him.

Those numbers probably don't paint a truly accurate picture. Saban's first draft class at Bama wasn't until 2008 (don't count 2007 since he never actually coached them), so let's start from there.
Since then, LSU has had five DB drafted (including three safeties), and their average draft position is round 3.6. Bama has had four DB drafted (just one safety), and their average draft position has been round 2.5.
No agenda, just food for thought in the interest of accuracy. Let's be honest, a guy like Collins is getting drafted--pretty high--regardless where he goes.

Well, he inherited several sophomores that started for three years. So there hadn't been as many chances for draft picks at the position until the 2009 class. And again had a young group of DBs, with no seniors in 2010. You could see as many as four DBs (Barron, Lester, Kirkpatrick, and Menzie) drafted in the 2012 NFL draft. Lots of playing time available for any DB prospect looking at Alabama for 2012. That all being said, I'm in no way saying Landon Collins is coming to Alabama. Just wish we could land him.

He had two seniors (Castille and Carter) and two juniors (R. Johnson and Mitchell) returning as starters in his first year. I think Woodall and M. Johnson may have come on at some point and overtaken Carter and Mitchell, respectively, but Woodall ended up going undrafted, too.
No doubt though that since then he's gotten his own guys in the system and started pumping out NFL DB's. I expect all four of the guys you named to be gone by the third round (at the latest) this coming year.

Neither Castille or Carter were drafted after the 2007 season. Mitchell left the program in 2008, with chronic back issues. Rashad Johnson certainly blossomed, and was drafted in the 2009 NFL draft by Arizona.
Justin Woodall became a two year starter (2008 and 2009). Marquis Johnson didn't start until his senior year in 2009, but that was mostly in nickel. He was able to get drafted by St. Louis in the 7th round.

I hope we aren't after a single recruit who is aware of TD.

I was merely pointing out that he did not inherit a bunch of sophomores that started for three years, as you stated. And from what I remembered it was Johnson starting at CB and Javy at Star/Nickel, but you would probably know better than I.

He inherited 6 young DBs that Shula signed in the 2006 class. They made up much of the depth for Saban's first three seasons. Several of them being drafted about 2009. That was my point. Javier Arenas, Marquis Johnson, Justin Woodall, Chris Rogers, and Tyrone King. Not to mention the impact of Kareem Jackson early on from Saban's 2007 class.

Kareem Jackson and Javier Arenas were the starting corners in 2008. Marquis Johnson didn't play much his first two years. However, he did contribute a lot in the nickel and dime in his last two years (2008 and 2009). Now, Arenas did play a lot in the star, but in base he was at corner.
