Haven't been down lately, but the surf is probably your best bet. A couple years ago around this time a buddy and I set out 20 nets about 2-3' deep and absolutely tore them up. We caught 10 dozen in an hour and half.

Though that generally is the norm around this time of year. Make sure you get out there early, and you throw back the ones with eggs(sponges) underneath.

We kept 4 dozen Saturday from the surf on Elmer's Island. We caught probably twice as much but they had eggs

If you're gonna go get there early as possible. The crabs ran pretty good in the morning, and tapered off until lunch. After lunch they all but shut off. 12:30 until 5 we might have only caught 6 more crabs.

They were pretty full though.

Just ran a couple trot lines. String between 2 sticks with lines coming off of it. Caught the most putting it about 5 yards before the deepest part of the first trough, where the bait tends to get pushed back towards that deep spot

Same here, along with small pompano and hardheads, and at least 20 3" sailcats. I don't even understand how, they were the same size as the shrimp, but somehow they got the shrimp off the hook and hooked themselves
