Reggie Bush Contract?

I searched and did not find any details.
Everyone knows that he has to rework his deal to stay, but what is his deal, and how can the saints just cut him without paying him?

contracts aren't gauranteed. teams can cut a player whenever they want. hence the reason players contracts include guaranteed money incase they do get cut.
eta: they owe Reggie around 12 mil this year.

The way contracts work in the NFL is most of the guaranteed money is given in the form of a signing bonus paid up front. If you cut a guy the cap hit is the prorated portion of the bonus. In 2006 Reggie signed a 6 year deal with a $26 million in guaranteed money, or $4.3 million guaranteed per year. This is the last year of the deal, if you cut him he eats $4.3 million of your cap. If you pay him what his contract says he eats $11.8 million of your cap. You'd probably be better off cutting him and signing 2 players with the $7.5 million difference between paying his cut figure and his contract figure. A compromise will probably be reached though and he'll get $5 - $6 million to play and free up another $6 - $7 million to sign other players.
