Boating Accident in Venice?

Can anyone tell me more details about the boat accident that supposedly occured about two miles out of South pass?
I read about it on wwl where suppodedly a guy ran aground about two miles south of south pass in a 20 ft boat and had to be airlifted.
It seems impossible to run aground two miles south of south pass. My best guess is he was in east bay and ran aground on one of the many sandbars out there and they had their coordinates wrong, but still looking for details.

We were down there and heard on the dock that 2 people were ejected from their boat and had to be choppered out. Supposedly happened right before the rocks at South Pass.

I am going to guess it happened about two mile FROM south Pass and not two miles out to sea because it gets deep extremely fast out of southpass. Probably ran a ground a bit to the west of the pass.
If not to the east maybe two miles upsteam from the mouth of the pass. Very possible if not probable since the pass has not been dredged and most boats are having to use southwest pass instead. The whole pass is silting up.
