Do we know what match was on centre court at the same time as she played?

Soderling and Hewitt, which ended up being a damn good match

Wait wait wait, i believe Serena beat that chick that used to have the ridiculously huge boobs, but supposedly got the boob reduction, correct?

If that chick is still sporting DDs, they're obviously on centre court today.

Problem solved.

Both Nadal and Federer had matches on courts other than Centre Court last year. Hell, Nadal's quarterfinals match against Soderling wasn't even on Centre Court

Have former champions never played on court 2 before. Is this some unprecedented slight?

I really don't know but I seriously doubt it. As long as the net is the same height and the court the same dimensions shut up and play.

Wimbeldon is the pinnacle of the sport. Kids who play tennis dream of playing there. Be grateful you have the talent that allows you to and appreciate the moment don't wallow in insignificant trivialities.

where does most of Wimbledon's money come from? advertising I assume?

And I don't understand why the women can't play a best of five like the men do... when it comes to endurance there is no reason to really think women are at a disadvantage to men... and if the matches were longer they could generate more advertising revenue and justify larger purses for the winner, runner up, etc

the Williams sisters are going to even feel more left out once their careers are over and most of the tournaments try to forget about them.

No tennis fan want to tune in to a woman's tennis match and watch a gorilla with no respect for anyone else play

Be glad when they are gone

All Venus and Serena are trying to do is make the tournament about them. They cannot get over the fact that it won't be about them until such a day as one or the other wins the whole thing on the women's draw, and that is the same as with any other women's player. Until then, the only thing any tennis fan will find interesting are stars like Caroline Wozniacki, a star who is easy on the eyes and breathes well, who hasn't been out of action for an extended period of time, and who doesn't go out of her way to vent frustrations by threatening a line judge who's simply trying to do his or her job.

If someone can post the last time someone like Federer or Nadal played any lower than Court 1, I'd like to know (Men's Singles).

I seem to remember years and years ago, McEnroe bitching because he was on like Court 10 or something.

With 17 trophies between them, the Williams sisters have earned the right to play on Centre Court, or Court 1. Serena is a top ten seed to boot.

Venus has 5 singles championships and is still a threat to win it all, regardless of her seeding, so she also deserves the top two courts.

I don't think it's racism nearly as much as it's because they are women.

My $.02

So by that same train of thought, lets assume that Martina Navratilova (18 Grand Slam titles and 9 Wimbledon titles), and Steffi Graf (22 Grand Slam titles and 7 Wimbledon titles) both were to come out of retirement for one last year-long hoorah on the tour. Are you telling us that neither one should have a match outside of Court 1 or Centre Court when Wimbledon rolls around?

Simple fact is that more tennis fans want to see Federer and Nadal play than just about any women's player currently on the tour. There are only 2 courts which allow maximum numbers of fans in their seats for their matches, and those two places are Centre Court and Court 1. The same could also be said for Novak Djokovich and Andy Murray. People pay dearly to watch them play. The same cannot be said to the same extent for anyone in the women's draw.

True... Once you threaten to KILL one of the linesmen, you deserve to be on the outer courts. With security.

As well as threaten the other players.

If this holds true, Serena has zero argument IMO.

Considering that Serena's not making an argument, I would guess that there is no argument.

This is a hack article intended to rile up a certain segment of sports fan, and it seems to have worked.

It's amazing....it's like folks are just waiting for one of these pieces to be produced so they come out with their " monkey, monkey, ape, they are ugly" comments.....sad human beings.

id be willing to bet theres been a top ten mens player going on around the same time during virtually all instances of alleged racism...

fact is the quality of tennis isnt nearly as good, and few tune in to watch early rounds of the womens draw.

shes also not attractive (to most), which doesnt help
