Hillbilly joe, if he is using a hunting rifle, only has to count to five and has probably shot his gun more than once.

OP has next to no firearm experience and you think it is ok to give him 30 round mags?

by a Benjemin air rifle first. Single shot, shoot inside if you want, learn that way first if safety is a concern. This is even safer than the 10\22 argument.

This is a bad idea, and it's irrefutable IMO. You have 6 times the chance of messing up with a 30 round mag vs a 5 round mag.

My dad taught me by only allowing me one shot, no matter what I was shooting. I'm a firm believer that everybody should be taught this way. The farther you stray away from one, the more dangerous it gets.

More or less I was meaning, I would rather the OP shoot an ar than a 300 win mag in a semi auto for the first time.

And everyone here realizes that they make other magazines for ARs right? They all arent 30rds, there are single shot, 5, 10, 15, 30, 60, 90, beta mags, there are even neutered 30rd mags for the californians that want to look cool.

Maybe he intends to use a magazine with less capacity, did anyone ask?
