Has anyone ever attempted to obtain an FFL?

If so how hard was it for you? I already own a business that operates out of a home office. I looked into opening another company to also run out of the office, and just attaching it to all of my current information. What all do they look for in having to own a business?

I don't know all of the specifics, but I can tell you that when my dad did it in the early 90s, it was a LOOOOOOOOOONG process that wasn't certain until the day he got it in the mail. I can't imagine it's much easier today.
He also did it out of a home office at the time FWIW.

I know a guy that runs his stuff out of a home office, but he has done gunsmith work for a long time before that. I think I am going to give it a shot and see what happens.

I've heard that they will no long issue FFL's without an actual business space/actual business being operated. I have no clue is that is true though.

I'm going to talk to some people. The guy who does my work now works out of a shop in the back of his house, and just got his. I may set something up in my garage or something. He has no signage or anything. So we'll see.

He has a normal home alarm system.

They allow for my home business to operate. Don't really see what the difference would be as long as their is no shooting.

I'm going to start getting everything I need tomorrow. One of my buddies who has one is going to call me when he gets off work so I can find out what to do.

Looked into it, strictly b/c I want an HK 416. You have to have office space, security system with cameras, safes, advanced locks. Looked to be about a $10-20,000 investment at least

Honestly, the easiest thing is to call the ATF. They are real people that know the laws and they will answer your questions. They are even nice about it. My BIL has his FFL and if he does not have 90% of the requirements in this thread.
Just call the ATF and ask, they will give you the answer.
