Not sure if many of you(if any) ride there but as of July 31st LA Dunes in Forest Hill will be closing permantly and from what Ive heard the property is being sold to a sand/gravel company. Its not the best spot in the world but it was always nice to have a place to play in the sand about an hour from the house. Will suck to see it close.

Sucks to hear. There are very few riding places around here. There was always plenty of "talent" out at the dunes.

yea that is a fun place especially if you have paddle tires, sad to see it go. My buddy broke his back there skimming his 4 wheeler all the way across the pond. Made it all the way to the other side but when he hit the bank shite hit the fan. Fun times

I remember seeing on thier website that fishing was allowed. There's a couple houses/camps on the opposite side of the lake that Ive seen people fishing from but never seen anyone catch.

No I don't. Im going in a few weeks though for our final trip so I'll try to find out the scoop.

Kind of sucks because now the closest place with sand is in Wiggins, MS which I heard is just ok. Or a road trip to Little Sahara in Waynoka, OK.

Little Sahara

Sad to see it go. We've been going out there since the early 90's. My last trip out there was last October. I may have to make one last trip.

So yesterday was supposed to be their last day being open. Got a call from a buddy yesterday afternoon telling me that apparently the deal to sell the property fell through and that a new guy just picked up the lease. They're supposed to have a grand re-opening this weekend. From what I gather this new guy will be running the place right. Supposed to fix up the RV spots for bigger trailers to come in, clean up some of the trash, get the concession stand going again, also plans to smooth the place out. Also said he plans on having a big weekend for Halloween weekend and will have a strip smooth enough for rigid frame drag bikes to run. Im fricking pumped.
