You buy the gun that performs the best and feels the best to you. I have two family members that both own xtremas and a friend and none of them have ever even had a jam in their guns. I shouldered the xtrema and have shot theirs and loved it so the decision was easy when I switched from pump to automatic. It wasn't because it was expensive it was because of how it performed.

I definitely wasn't directing my post at the xtrema 2, my buddy has one and it's the nicest shotgun I've ever shot . I know a few people with Remingtons who have trouble sometimes with cheap low brass shells not always ejecting.

I agree tolerances are a reason to pay more for a rifle that you are shooting a bullet 300 yards to kill a deer. That accuracy may be important but in a shotgun you are throwing a bunch of bb's at a moving target I can't see tolerances mattering much.
With shotguns where accuracy won't really change with tighter tolerances, etc, the advantages if a higher quality gun are really just weight, balance, ergonomics (somewhat) and maybe reliability, although if you maintain a gun like you should that won't be an issue. IMO once you get to those guns above the $1000 mark it's all personal preference, they'll all perform amazingly. Just pick the one that feels the feels the most comfortable to you.
But the best shotgun in the world won't help someone who couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat
