Hey guys, I'm new to this board, but I'm an Oregon fan and wanted to get your opinion on this game.

From looking back on this board, I can see most things have been discussed. However, I have not seen a lot of discussion in common opponents between the ducks and tigers.

Last season, both LSU and Oregon played Tennessee. Oregon started off slowly in the first half, but ended up blowing out Tennessee in the second half. Oregon won 48-13 at Tennessee.

LSU pretty much lost to Tennessee if they don't have more than 11 men on the field. LSU won 16-14 at home.

Now LSU is losing some of their best defensive and offensive players. Oregon keeps their main offensive play makers, but loses some experience in the trenches.

We both lost to Auburn, but Oregon still played them better.

My question is how can you be so confident about your team winning when Oregon played better in both games against common opponents.

This is why Oregon fans are confident in this game.

because the transitive property has never, and will never work in college football

Auburn held Oregon's O to 19 points, and LSU's 2011 D will be about twice as better as Auburn's. If LSU can improve its O just a little bit from last season, LSU should beat Oregon.

That being said, I like Chip Kelly and think Oregon will give LSU all they can handle.

you are aware that teams change, correct? this isnt 2010.

common opponents is a terrible judge of a future game, as each and every game is about matchups.

LSU will be better offensively this year than last. Defensively, slightly down from last year, but still a terrific defense.

This means nothing dude. Think about it. We have to get up for so many more games in the SEC than you do in the PAC10, trap games happen alot. Plus, we can play the "LSU beat blah, who lost to blah, who beat blah" all day long, and it don't mean shite.

We lost 3 key defensive players, but will be just as strong at each position. We will have much less depth at LB, however. Defensive backfield will be #1 in the country, watch and see. D-line will destroy your gameplan.

Actually a well thought out and decent 1st post though. Stick around man. You will get kind of beat up from time to time, but you will have fun. And the game will be great!

Last year, Ark beat A&M by 7. LSU beat A&M by 17. So, according to your logic, LSU would beat Ark. Oh wait, that didn't happen. A&M beat OU by 14, LSU beat A&M by 17, so I guess LSU would beat OU by 31? Yeah right. Your logic is terrible.

I would say losing by 3 points compared to 7 is absolutely meaningless.

Here is the thing: LSU takes a 17 point lead and then coasts to victory to win 20-14. We just run up the score.

Oregon lost 3 offensive lineman and is only left with possession receivers. Our secondary is our strength and will be able to take them man-to-man, leaving the ducks trying to run the ball when the OL is not yet up to speed. LSU's D is going to abuse them badly. You'll get some scores on a couple big plays, but apart from that it will be ugly for you.

LSU's OL was young last year and will be better this year. Our new starting RB, Ware is more complete than Ridley ever was. So I expect us to pound it a lot and grind out points. I've heard that you've got decent depth on the DL, but I don't think the skill level is high enough to keep us from averaging at least 4 yards a carry. That steady pounding plus a few play action passes will get LSU plenty of points.

Furthermore, all that hurry up is going to backfire when your offense can't move the ball. It will kill your TOP and leave your D on the field the whole game.

And finally, Auburn and UT were two of our worst games all season. And as near as I can tell, Oregon was one of the worst games for both UT and Auburn. Personally I think Oregon and LSU are roughly equal in strength, but I think LSU takes this one and I don't think it will be as close as most people think.
