When has an LSU woman last won a shot put, long or high jump title?

The better question is how often is a national title decided by the shot or high jump? The recruiting resources that would have to be burned to get the top shot putter in the nation would be much better used on a sprinter who can score in 2 events and 2 relays. The only schools who go after 1 event specialists are teams that can't give scholarships to the big point sprinters anyway.

The common denominator for all high level teams the past few years (excluding Oregon, who Nike gives an unfair advantage in distance events) has been excellent sprinters. This year is no exception with LSU, TAM, Florida, and Florida St all relying entirely on sprint recruits.

The formula works and it is one that Henry and Shaver use. The thing Shaver has to compete against that Henry never did is Henry at A&M and thats why he isn't as dominant.

Men's Triple Jump going on right now. With LSU, Florida, and Texas A&M all having two good scoring opportunities in it, this is going to set the course of the Men's title. After the first flight, Florida's top guy has launched a jump that should hold up for first place. Zedric Thomas of LSU is fifth and Blaise is in flight 2. We need Thomas to hold on to 9th place to make the finals and get 3 more jumps. Blaise making the final would help too, but Zedric has a lot more potential for a 3rd/4th place jump.
