Mathieu has not yet proven himself to have the versatility that pp7 had. He is an amazing player at #3 CB on the field... and he has made some amazing plays from the corner too, but if we are talking about two CBs on the field in a base 4-3, I think you have to go with Simon and Claiborne. They both have a little more size to them and, from what I saw, are both better at man-to-man coverage. The single most impressive (unexpected) corner back play I saw this season was not Mathieu, but when Simon made Julio Jones look silly on a couple of man-to-man slant routes.

I guess I'm just saying that TM is great, but I don't think he should be a permanent starter with 4 DBs on the field (anything less than nickel) over Claiborne and Simon.
