Okay, I am recently graduated from college, have a full time job, and have never had to take out a loan or needed a credit card. But now (too late to the show, I admit) I would like to get a credit card to help build credit for when I buy a house or vehicle in the future.

I would prefer not to get one of those Prepaid or Secured cards, but are those my only options? Or are there certain entities who accept people with no credit history?

What is the best way to go about building credit?

TIA

When I was ready to buy an engagement ring, I called Chase and they gave me my first credit card with a $7000 limit and 0% for 6 months. Bought a $4000 ring and paid it off the next week. Never touched it since and have been in my first home for almost a year. May not be the smartest thing but to each his own.

When my wife and I first got married we got turned down for a gas card

AMEX gave us a card, though. We use it for groceries and pay it off each month

Talk to someone at your local bank branch and see if you can get a credit card sponsored by your bank. My fiancee was in your same position a while back.
