just as loud as ANY night games: 2003 Georgia, and 2010 Alabama
this man speaks the truth

What I don't understand is why whether a game was a night or day game would change the sound level.

GoDucks349,
It's almost like the fans ANTICIPATE the night games more, cheer and yell in unison more, and some may even "SUBCONSCIOUSLY" be louder.

I really think that night games in Tiger Stadium are louder or are "perceived" louder simply because of the legendary games played at night in Death Valley, especially in the last 40 years - and it's become a self-fulfilling prophecy:

All the following memorable games in Death Valley in the last 40 years or so were at night except (d)

1969 Auburn (d)
1970 Ole Miss
1971 Notre Dame
1972 Auburn, Ole Miss
1973 A&M, Bama
1974 Colorado
1976 Nebraska
1977 Florida
1979 USC, Fla St(d)
1982 Fla State
1983 Washington
1985 Bama
1986 Texas A&M, Georgia, Ole Miss, Notre Dame
1987 Ohio State (d)
1988 Texas A&M, Auburn
1990 Georgia, Texas A&M
1995 Auburn, Arkansas
1997 Florida
2000 Tennessee, Miss.State, Bama
2001 Arkansas, Auburn
2003 Georgia (d), Arkansas
2004 Bama, Ole Miss
2005 Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Arkansas
2006 Alabama, Ole Miss
2007 Va.Tech, South Carolina(d), Florida, Auburn,
Arkansas
2008 Georgia(d), Alabama
2009 Florida, Auburn, Arkansas
2010 West Va, Tennessee(d), Bama(d), Ole Miss
<br>

Of the above, the ones that stand out as painfully and ear-splittingly other-worldly were:

1970 Ole Miss
1971 Notre Dame
1979 USC
1982 Florida State
1986 Texas A&M, Notre Dame
1988 Auburn ('Earthquake Game')
1995 Auburn
1997 Florida
2000 Tennessee, MSU, Bama
2001 Auburn
2003 Georgia
2005 Tennessee, Florida, Auburn
2007 Va.Tech, Florida, Auburn, Arkansas
2008 Alabama
2009 Florida, Auburn
2010 Alabama

LSU fans are not suited for afternoon games. LSU tradition is night games in tiger stadium. You would have to attend one of each to experience the difference.

This is really interesting. I hadn't even thought about it, but I suppose my impression of Autzen is that it may be louder for day games. Night games can get cold and people hunker down a bit and may not be as loud. Of course we love seeing soft warm weather teams show up at Autzen for a cold rainy night game with a little breeze to shrivel up those LA and AZ "johnsons" into little smokies. LOL

I've always thought the night games seem louder than the day games. I think it's just perception.. but of the two loudest games I remember -- USC '98 and Oklahoma '06 -- one was day and one was night.

Fright Night in '09 was damn loud, and the coldest game I've been to in ages. Which I'm sure didn't help U$C much.

Even though I have never seen a game there, and tiny speakers may not do it justice, I have really enjoyed watching televised games from Autzen.

I never went to USC '98 but Oklahoma '06 was absolutely nuts, especially after Blair Phillips blocked the field goal to seal the game. Adrian Peterson was playing like he was possessed that game.....

Only other games I would compare to that one was USC '07 after Matthew Harper picked off Sanchez to seal the win and the '09 CW when we clinched the Rose Bowl.
