Early last week, there was talk on the OT board about whether the I-10 bridge would be structurally sound once all the water flows through from Morganza. A couple of posters make the comment that we just don't know b/c the bridge wasn't fully constructed/open the last time the Morganza was opened. However, Ch. 9 news last night stated that a DOTD official stated yesterday that they believed that the bridge would be ok and that they had no problems with the bridge when the Morganza was last opened. So, who's right here, the OT or the dOTd? Wikipedia says the bridge was opened in 1973, so I guess the bridge could very well have been put to the test immediately upon its opening.

The bridge is far enough away. It will be fine.

It's actually a twin of the bridge on I10 near bonnet carre.

There won't be enough water coming down to threaten the bridge. If they opened ORCS and Morganza to their maximum capacity, maybe. But it's not expected to get close to that.
