That FB post isn't quite accurate.
Dumbledore doesn't need a wand to do all magic, neither do many wizards.
The best wizard warriors are the ones that can think on their feet and use their enemies' strength against them.
I know I didn't join in the best wizards in Harry Potter debate, and I saw many fail to realize this. What makes you a good wizard is not being powerful, but it's what you do with the power that you have.
Gandalf was too busy getting caught and dying and rescuing people at the last minute to be considered ahead of the game.
Dumbeldore had the foresight to prepare what will come of Hogwarts, Harry, and Voldemort all the while being very educated in all things magic.
Dumbeldore could have beat any wizard in a duel Elder Wand or not. Because he was smart and in tune with magic enough to find a way to win.
This is the best argument I've seen yet. It's a hell of a lot better than "Gandalf is badass!" and "Dumbledore died and Gandalf didn't!" Blargh.
Technically, you can't compare the two because Dumbledore is human and Gandalf isn't...not really. Dumbledore planned his own death and continued to influence an entire war after he left this world. He knew what was to come and literally fashioned its outcome to his liking. He sacrificed himself for the greater good. That being said, in terms of magical ability and influence, I see them as equals. However, Dumbledore does exhibit his abilities a hell of a lot more than Gandalf does. Gandalf uses his power sparingly, but awesomely.
It's a tough call. Gandalf is indeed badass (probably more so than Dumbledore), but in terms of who would win in a fight...well, that'd be Dumbledore. It's not a popularity contest.

This. And Pectus nailed it.
What makes Dumbledore great has nothing to do with his magical powers.
The people who are talking about Dumbledore's death have no idea what they are talking about.
