I have a question that I have always wanted to ask, I just always thought it is what it is. So here it goes. Why is it not "intentional grounding" when a quarterback spikes the ball to stop the clock??? I have always thought that was the ultimate intentional ground.

It is allowed because for an intentional grounding penalty to be called, the QB has to be throwing to avoid a sack.
