Just listening to WWL and the topic was rule changes you'd like to see in the NFL

My suggestions...

1) Get rid of the rule allowing QB to throw the ball out of bounds to avoid a sack. Go back to old-school grounding rules

2) No sliding rule for QB. Sorry it's not right for a QB to start his slide before the 1st down marker (at this point the defender can't touch him), land on the ground after the 1st down marker and it's a first down

3) Max 15 yard penalty for pass inteference. Tired of seeing games decided by ticky-tack pass interference calls that end up being 30+ yard penalties for the defense

4) Simplify the defintion of a reception. You either caught the the ball or you didn't. WTF is a "football move" anyway?

Sounds ok.

I think the rule is the ball is down where he begins his slide. They just need to better enforce this.

And anytime a receiver blows by a DB at 16+ yards, the DB will just grab him. What they need to change is the hands-in-the-face rule. If there's no contact, there's no interference even if the DB's back is turned.

Sounds good.

These are two huge ones I'd want to see. I hate that "possession for 10 mins then walk to sideline with it" bullshite.
And that pass interference penalty has always been nuts. You could get a 40 free yards just because someone interfered with the receiver. That should def. be 15 as well.

The late hit out of bounds. Some are warranted but many seem to be called when the runner is still in but going toward the line.

Also, you must be at least "this" hot to join the saintsations. Aside from a few hot ones the squad is comprised of dump trucks and sea donkeys.

When winning a challenge, you should get an extra challenge

Penalties should be allowed to be challenged

I have a question that I have always wanted to ask, I just always thought it is what it is. So here it goes. Why is it not "intentional grounding" when a quarterback spikes the ball to stop the clock??? I have always thought that was the ultimate intentional ground.

Regarding replay, the officials should defer to a replay official in the booth who determines what happened. Such plays should be limited to calls that are questionable, such as whether or not a touchdown or first down occurred, catches, etc. In the event of a play that at the time seems to have any doubt, the referee should immediately call up to the replay official and simply ask, "was the receiver in or out of bounds" or "should I award a touchdown", etc.

No challenges. No official going over his own work. Just a simple, "hey, it was close, please check"

I agree with all of them except #3. DBs would just exploit that to hell and literally tackle WRs when they lose position on them.

The QB spiking the ball to stop the clock should be considered intentional grounding. He's not throwing to anyone. So what's the difference? Not a thing. Penalty.
