Tiremone Williams- Basketball recruit (PG)

I heard from one of the Abbeville High coaches in the stands at Friday's quarterfinal game against E.D White that LSU was looking hard at this kid. He is a junior and the starting PG for Abbeville High. He has been since his freshman year. I've watched him quite a few times in his 3 years and the kid is pretty damn good. He's about as good of a ball handler and passer as you see on the high school level (something LSU has seriously seriously lacked). I've seen him have games where he doesn't shoot much, but I've also seen him in games where they have needed him to score and he lit it up (he scored 32 Friday against E.D White). Most of his points came off of penetration, but he has a pretty sweet mid-range jumper off the dribble. If I had to guess I'd say he is in the 6'1" range.
I sure hope LSU snags this kid. It would be nice to see us with someone that is just a pure ball handler.

Sounds good.
1.) Sign a JUCO PG for this upcoming season.
2.) Sign this kid for 2012.
3.) Redshirt him or slowly give him minutes as a freshman.
4.) WIN.

Let's hope. I can't imagine that he would be THAT good to come in and contribute from day 1, but I'm not a great judge of how well high school talent will translate to the college game.

And the coach I heard this from is not the basketball coach. And he didn't say the could would jump straight to LSU if he was offered either. So who knows. We have just been having a major need at PG in OH 10 years..and this kid is a hell of a point guard. I don't think he could play any other position at the college level.

Hypothetically (dependent on his signing), Coach Johnson might want to get him some sparse or "garbage" minutes just to get his feet wet. He would be backing-up our Senior JUCO PG to give him sporatic rest.

Any idea on what JUCO PG we are going to get?

I have no frickin' idea if Johnson will be able to get one. I'm definitely not in the loop when it comes to BBall recruiting. This is all theoretical on my part.

Williams is a major talent. If he worked on his jumper and mid range game he would be lethal. His speed is off charts with the ball in his hands. If he has another outstanding summer, look he will blow up nationally. He's not an elite half court pg yet, Felix, has him there. But secondary break and up tempo he's the best.

It has to be an upgrade over Stringer at this point.

Kid is good, but he may not be the best PG on his team. He's more a of a 2 guard than a point. Don't get me wrong Williams is an extremely talented player, but if I was looking for a pure point I'd take #13 from his team. JMO

Went to the quarterfinal game against E.D. White. Kid can play. #13 can't touch this dude. He took over the game in the second half.

I'm not exactly sure who #13 is, but I'm guessing you are talking about Dujuan Smith (since the other two kids that will come off the bench and play PG are really small and aren't very great). Smith isn't near as good a ball handler as Williams. He's not a PG at all IMO. He's more of a shooting guard/small forward type of player. He's not as fast, not close to as good of a passer, or ball handler that Williams is. Smith is good, and he can score in bunches but he is no point guard.

Again I'm going to assume that #13 is Smith. For whatever reason Smith did not play much in the second half at all. He rolled his ankle at the end of the first round game against Independence so maybe the coach was just being extra cautious with him since he really wasn't needed in the 2nd half. He didn't have one of his better games against E.D White, but maybe it was because he wasn't on the court much. He's a totally different kind of player from Williams, but I've seen him look great in a few games.
