I save most of my art in PNG format. If I need to email something, sometimes JPEG even though I know the resolution degrades something terrible.
I wanted to email some photos from a digital camera without losing resolution. I picked up that FILEminizer. It works pretty well. Compresses large JPEG's. There's no visible resolution loss but however the pixel resolution is cut by over half. The file sizes were reduced by 90%.

I save all my stuff lossless as well. You can't go back from lossy.
Is the filesize via email the issue? If so, you can always use cloud storage for them to get the files. I think there are several free/trial ones that would work. I just host them on my own web and email the link when filesize via email is an issue.
