What format are you saving your images in?
Without reducing resolution, that is a huge factor in filesize. Uncompressed vs lossless compression vs lossy compression.

I save most of my art in PNG format. If I need to email something, sometimes JPEG even though I know the resolution degrades something terrible.
I wanted to email some photos from a digital camera without losing resolution. I picked up that FILEminizer. It works pretty well. Compresses large JPEG's. There's no visible resolution loss but however the pixel resolution is cut by over half. The file sizes were reduced by 90%.
