what type of coins? and what condition are they in? old morgan dollars in good condition will get you much more than melt value. If they are in shitty condition you may be better off with melt value. Year/mint/condition matter

Mostly Mercury and Roosevelt dimes, Washington Quarters and Franklin and Kennedy Half Dollars. Some other coins mix in as well. Some are in good to great shape but also have a number of bad ones. About 50% of the coins were rolled and those are in the best shape. The rest was loose in a bag. They where in a safe for years. The problem that I have is that I have no clue about conditions and the volume of the coins. What looks good to me is bad to an appraiser.

I have roughly:

285 half dollars, half of them rolled
1650 quarters, 3/4 of them rolled
2000 dime, 1/4 rolled

They were probably weren't touch in the safe for probably 25 years or so.
