pond is dry and I don't feel like moving them. For some reason I remember 100ft?

You should be ok... we have some on telephone poles at our house that are about 50+ yards from water and the babies all make it to the water.
And I'm sure the pond is gonna fill up between now and May/June huh?

quote:you betting on it? It was a pretty dry winter. Actually I'll probably get a batch way before then, late march early april. Last year I had two seperate lays in each box. The early ones usually don't hatch half.

Yeah I noticed we have had 2 hatches also... Idk where your pond is but I know ours will go dry and then a big rain comes through and adds a few feet pretty quickly

If I remember correctly from Delta research, hens will lead their brood to water as far away as 100+ yds. That's why you see some woodies nesting in more urban areas. All they need is a small drainage ditch that holds water and they will be fine.
And thanks for stimulating the woodduck population by putting up boxes!

You nailed it bruh!
If you make them look up the dimensions, the hole has to be made a specific size to keep coons out
