He can't RS if he plays

Yes he can....done all the time...all the sudden he gets an ankle injury and they have to "medically" redshirt him...I think you can do that up to the 2nd game..

If he plays one single play he losses his redshirt. If he is injured then he has to wait until his eligibility runs out and has to ask the NCAA for a medical reshirt which isn't always granted. Blackwell got hurt on the first series last year and missed the year. It is likely he will get a medical redshirt, but we won't know until after his remaining eligibility runs out.

Incorrect.

Blackwell will not receive a medical redshirt because he was redshirted his freshman year. Last year was just a wasted year because his redshirt had already been burned. There is only one way Blackwell could receive a medical redshirt and that would be for him to suffer another early season-ending injury. We don't want that to happen.

The only way a player can successfully petition for that rare sixth year is to sustain two separate major season-ending injuries a la Kirston Pittman (knee, achilles tendon) or Charles Alexander (right knee, left knee).

Sir, it's done all the time at every college every year with FIRST YEAR PLAYERS. I know what it takes to get a medical after that first year, and as stated later in the thread, it must be considered a seperate injury......

But...'If he plays one single play he losses his redshirt."....is correct but not really correct because you can get it back..
