very seldom do great players make great coaches. Only two that I can think of in ANY sport had good careers as coaches...Bill Russell and Mike Ditka. The case can be made that Russell did well because he had himself as a player, and that Ditka did well in spite of himself (he had a GREAT defensive coach).

The problem is that these guys don't understand why the ordinary player can't do what they found so easy.

Some people have short memories or just don't know. Larry Bird took the Pacers to the title series in a couple of years or so and didn't have near the talent that several other teams had. He was an outstanding coach but just got tired of it.
