mahtook batted leadoff after watkins got hurt. he wont be in the same position to run as much batting in the middle of the order.
and when he wasnt hitting leadoff he was batting 6th or 7th.
just different circumstances.
unless Watkins absolutely wets the bed, he'll be in the lineup all year. I dont see him wetting the bed though. Even when he slumped last year he was still valuable getting on base. He had one of the better OBP on the team despite his average dipping to 270 before he was injured

I think Mahtook is one of those guys, like Blake Dean, that will start every game, including midweek games. I could def see Watkins getting days off. I'm not saying Watkins won't end up leading the team in SB, but I don't think it's as clear cut as you do
