How are so many tiger fans this delusional??

I look around the country and see true freshmen and R/S freshmen (first time starters) performing circles around JJ and JL.

Its no stretch to say Mett could do this as well. Its not that damn hard to throw more than 4 TDs and less than 11 INTs in a season. Just about every other college QB in all of D1 did it this year.

Not sure how he could be "overlooked" when just about every LSU fan I've ever met knows about this kid, even ones who don't even follow recruiting.

I think the correct word is overrated. Not that he's not a good prospect, he definitely is for all the reasons you mentioned. He's got tons of experience, even spent time in an SEC camp fighting (and some would say winning) for a starting job before playing JUCO. He's got size and all the physical attributes.

However, people are acting like we signed a taller, more pollished Peyton Manning. He's a solid QB prospect, but the guy still didn't even complete over 60% of his passes last year. If he can't come in and unseat statistically one of the worst starting QBs in the SEC in a long time then he's not the giant people are making him out to be. Add in that it's a new system that Jefferson has no experience with and that Mettenberger will have a spring to get up to speed and he should be able to win the starting job.

People can say what they want, but if Mettenberger doesn't start from day one or atleast by midseason then it means Kragthorpe is greatest QB coach of alltime and did wonders with Jefferson or that Mettenberger wasn't the God people on here made him out to be.
