i agree that they should work the rest of the season. they agreed at the beginning of the season that they will work for this pay rate. the new rate wouldn't come into effect till the summer anyways. let the football officials be the first to strike, if that is what they want to do.

And they're agreeing many months in advance that they'll work next season for $8 more a game.

After doing some research, this isn't really true. Officials list themselves as available or unavailable on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis, much like substitute teachers. This isn't a strike in the traditional sense; the officials are simply listing themselves as "unavailable" for work.

There is no yearly agreement.
