from what i understand, the principals have to vote on the raise. the LHSAA certifies the officials, but schools pay them.
the reason it is coming in the middle of the basketball season is because this is when the principals have their meeting.
i know a couple of basketball officials, and they are always having to study rules and attend meetings. it isn't just showing up at a game with a striped shirt.
