He's the best playmaker freshman I've seen on Defense. He plays at a different speed than everyone else, for sure. Ever, will draw out the crazies, though.

Assuming you mean best true freshman defensive player at LSU. I'd rate him even with Laron Landry and Booger Mcfarland who were both instant starters. Casanova, who came along when all freshman were ineligible, was an instant All-American the second he set foot on the field as a sophomore fwiw, as were Stovall and Cannon. The three latter all played both sides of the ball.

I'm guessing you are new to LSU op. Laron Landry led the team in tackles as a freshman. Mathieu didn't even start till he was forced to.
