Auburn had all kinds of formations and motions, but at their core they were a power running team. Their 2 best plays were the dive with Newton and the sweep with McCalebb.

Yes they were. College teams do not run a lot of "plays" they do it with smoke and mirrors. Sure there are spread option teams, true option teams, pro style, etc, but the actual amount of schemes that are used by different college teams are not that different. There is only so many different things in football. Run game schemes basically amount to three things; zone schemes, gap schemes, and man schemes(which hardly no one does anymore) Everything in the run game falls pretty much in these three categories for the big boys up front.
