according to the Wall Street Journal, the tv audience tuning into our 10 bowl games since 1998 has averaged almost 9% less than expected. for teams playing at least 6 bowl games in that span, we are near the bottom.

now, this is something that our AD & SID team should be looking into.

Why are we such a bad bowl draw nationally? i find this surprising. we've had some good match-ups: v. Oklahoma, Ohio State, Miami, Iowa, Texas, Penn State, Notre Dame, Illinois, GA Tech, etc.

Bowls are more worried about SELLING TICKETS than tv audience.

LSU does better than most at selling tickets to bowl games.

When Southern California is in a bowl game, TV viewers tune in. Same goes for Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame and most teams in the Big Ten

Miami
Notre Dame
and Ohio St. (Big Ten)

LSU has embarassed all three in bowl games.

Interesting. USC (5 yrs probation), Notre Dame 3 HCs in the last 10 yrs) and Michigan (who wants our coach) all in the top 5 w/ positive numbers. But a program with two crystal balls in the last 7 yrs is rated much lower. Also, Bama and Florida not mentioned. I question the research.

WSJ can go frick itself. Due limited reading time normally taken by a number of professional journals, I quit reading it some time ago ..... and beat the market quite well without it.

Yep, that's one of the reasons we got snubbed and put in a mid level crappy bowl instead of the good CapOne Bowl, we look like asses.
