If you want to sit here and try to sell this theory that if it wasnt for GC that JJ would be some sort of all conf qb

Never said all-conference.

I think he and Lee would be serviceable and our offense would be much improved without Crowton.

What is your prediction for Mettenberger at LSU? Will he make it rain on our hapless SEC opponents?

Maybe?

AMOSS, look...
we could fire GC tommorrow, bring in a offensive corr that 99.9% of LSU people would approve of and IMO our offense next season doenst improve that much.
Thats just how I feel about it.

JJ has started and played in over 30 div 1 football games.
You could argue he isnt a notch better today than he was then, what you have seen from him is what he is.

If any one here finds that stupid, or ill logical, or off based, then I dont know what to tell you.

Excellent prognostication

I enjoyed North by Northwest by the way, Hitchcock.

This is what I disagree with.

Without Crowton, I think we are at least a Top 60 offense next year.

lets just agree to disagree.

qb is the most important posoiton on the offensive side of the ball and at LSU thats the weak link.

Im willing to say both are partially to blame, problem is player is the one you depend on to execute the plays and gameplan.

Well, going beyond the fact that a player can only execute as well as he is taught to execute...

There are some glaring issues with the offense that have little to nothing to do with execution.

1) There's no identity

Are we spread? Are we I-Form? Are we zone blocking? Are we power running?

Being multiple can be effective, but most teams that run a multiple offense effectively really run the same plays, just out of different formations. We don't do that... at all.

Our best successes on the ground this year came from zone running... and we didn't hardly use that as a hallmark.

2) We don't play to player's strengths

Sending Shep deep just because he's fast isn't smart. I understand the concept of using him to open up underneath routes (taking the top off the defense as Randy Moss would say), but trying to make him a deep threat at this point is futile. He's still developing as a WR... and that's a tough skill.

Using a toss sweep with Ridley is simply confounding. Doing it three times in the red zone against Arkansas is even more perplexing. I love Ridley... he's a fantastic back... but stretching a play wide is not his forte.

3) Very little rhyme or reason/consistency to gameplans

You develop a game plan for a purpose. Obviously the ultimate goal is scoring points, but you try to accomplish other things to make that possible as well. We rarely set up plays with other plays. We often turn away from what is working best.... for the sake of "being multiple."

These are just a few of the issues that extend up to Crowton and have very little to do with player execution (which is something he shouldn't be excused for either IMO).

Highest in the SEC. It's up there nationally, not sure of the exact number.

Its hard to develop an identity, play to your players strenghts and find rythym when you go 3 and out 70% of the time.

Just saying.

Does it matter? Does everything need a label?
