Completely agree with RTK, commodity inflation has been pretty rampant since QE2 POMO started 11/12. 2011 EPS estimates from Goldman, UBS, and Merrill show about a 39% pop in S&P 500 earnings, and it's only rallied 13% since the estimates came out. We still have room to go up, even though this is not indicative of a healthy economy.
MVIS I like from their mircro-mobile platform, but I can't bring myself to ever invest in a company that doesn't drastically change their operating loss on a year over year basis.
With ASTI, I wouldn't touch any solar companies with a 10-foot pole. JASO and FSLR included. Even thought it is focused in the U.S., every solar company is affected by the German subsidiaries for solar technology. They've been cutting the money from taxes attributable to the subsidiaries lately, and with the ECB seemingly forcing Germany to bail out each structurally defunct Euro Zone country I don't see this subsidiaries increasing. I'm saying this even today after the solar companies got upgraded.
Germany really needs to tell the Eurozone and the ECB to go frick themselves. They're already being punished for being one of the few fiscally responsible countries, and if the Euro plunges the German exports will benefit tremendously.
As for my pick, MCP. Rare-earths have nowhere to go but up. Especially with China cutting exports and now tariffing rare-earth exports. This is on top of the new Gerald Ford class aircraft carriers using a new rare-earth launching mechanism that will add around 10,000 tonnes of demand for rare-earths AND on top of all the metals that are required for iPods, LCDs, and most of the electronic devices we use.
