I thought Trindon got a track scholarship and then walked on to the football team?

anyone who plays football must be paid on a football scholly, like Mitchel and Jones. They instituted that rule decades ago as football teams were putting players on various sport schollies

Wasn't there a guy who said the same thing when JR committed to LSU and didn't the other QB decommit?
Lane?

Naw.

It was well known that he was gone if we took JR. Flynn stayed and competed.

What I don't understand is people who leave a school if they aren't guaranteed playing time and aren't willing to compete for it. Shouldn't a prospective player want to be in an environment where competition is fierce, especially if they have aspirations of playing in the NFL? To me, it seems like some of the guys who decommit in fear of not getting playing time are harboring the idea that more exposure in a lesser environment will increase their quality of play and eventually translate to the next level. The competition doesn't go away (and it gets more fierce), and those players are really only hurting their own potential. I love how Matt Flynn stuck it out for behind JM for so long. His attitude and perseverance has paid off and while JM was cut from his NFL roster, Flynn is still on one. IMO, he was better for it for competing with JM at LSU.

That was the point I was making. I would not be surprised if JL makes it in the NFL one day.

Trindon was different because he grey shirted. His first year he was on a track scholarship, then once he joined the football team that switched to a football scholly.
