Because they are UT damn it!

Agree with the post though.
Texas always has that two or three year where they are "down" while breaking in their new QB (Applewhite/Sims 99'/2000[5 losses and 3 losses], VY '03 [3 losses], Colt McCoy '06/'07 [3 losses each year] and Gilbert '10 [7 losses]) then they will do better in a year or two with a seasoned QB (Sims '01/'02 [11-2/11-2], VY '04/'05 [11-1/13-0] Colt McCoy '08/'09 [12-1/13-1])

I know this year is worse than others, but those players just didn't even seem to be trying hard this year.
