Don be surprised if you start to hear that Urban Cryer might retire. Of course he wont but it will be his way of keeping Mullen at MSU.....waiting for Urban to step down.

That story is full of shite.

If Gruden is choice B, why did Miami already offer him the job? He has already turned it down and said he wont be coaching anywhere period and is very happy at ESPN and MNF.

For some reason, I just don't see Mullen being a good fit for Miami.

Let me ask this: If Butch Davis gets fired from UNC, would Miami look at hiring him?

Eh, regardless, if they are interested and even if Mullen has little to no interest in going to Miami it benefits him in two ways to at least entertain it. First, it probably gets him some extra money from MSU, and second, to then come out and say publicly after he has interviewed he is not interested in the job (after of course he's reached an agreement for more money at MSU) sends a message to MSU fans and recruits about his commitment to that program, giving it an extra shot of adrenaline in terms of recruiting and fundraising.

I would be very surprised.
Donna Shalala is the alpha and omega at Miami, and she has zero tolerance for the type of baggage Davis would bring with him. This is why I think Mullen would be a great candidate for Miami, in terms of what Shalala is looking for: successful and straight as an arrow (just like Shannon, but... successful).
