We went this past weekend for the gun hunt and I must say i was VERY disapointed. We have been going for the past 25yrs and always kill atleast 3 or 4 but the only thing killed this year was 183 lb 5 point by my dad. Me along with three other guys didnt even see a deer. We usually go in December but decided November this year, wont do that again. There is no water in the woods therefore no acorns either. If you can find acorns you will see deer. As far as everyone saying to many people that is totally false. There wasnt enough people to move the deer this year. I bet there was only about 400 people that actually came for the hunt. The are I hunt in usually brings out atleast 125 to 150 deer the 1st day, there were 32 total for the weekend !!

That's ok IMO. All the coonasses go up there and kill does and all their yearlings and don't report all of them. Those woods are depleted of a deer population and the more hunters that are discouraged to go blast everything in sight, the more deer I should see in years to come (I'm not calling you a coonass or accusing you of blasting everything)

I hunted Africa Hunting Club before the fed's bought the place. Management was nonexistent in those days and it was a rare hunt to not see a buck.
I pretty much got 5 or 6 bucks a year.

After the feds bought the area. A friend & I applied for the first lottery hunt and got a permit. This was around 82' or 83'. We drove the 60 miles, parked @ Africa Lake, put a boat in and crossed to hunt the other side. We both took good bucks and saw several more in two days.

Believe me. The fed's have fricked it up and there are NOT as many deer as there used to be.
